Apple and Samsung’s ongoing legal battle is headed to the Supreme Court, and on Friday the Cupertino company urged the highest court in the land to rule against the South Korean firm. Reuters reports that Apple argued that the case should not be sent back to a lower court and it should be paid the full amount awarded to it.

The Supreme Court is set to rule on a very specific issue within the complex court case. The key question is whether Samsung should be forced to cover the full cost of the Apple devices involved, or simply the components and features it copied. Samsung clearly wants to pay less, but Apple claims its rival has produced “no evidence” that it shouldn’t have to cover the full fine.

Apple first sued Samsung back in 2011 for infringing on several design patents, including those covering the iPhone’s rounded corners, bezels and some app icon designs. Samsung lost the case and was initially ordered to pay $930 million, but appealed the ruling and got it lowered to $548 million in 2015.

Samsung has already agreed to pay the reduced fine, but also said it would appeal to the Supreme Court. Now the two companies are gearing up for their next legal face-off in what could either be the final battle or just another step in the seemingly never-ending saga.
